Ecovite ™ is a newly-developed range of animal feed ingredients based on spray-dried fermentation products.
The products are produced at a newly erected, state-of-the-art spray dryer at the Simunye Sugar Mill in the Kingdom of Eswatini. This facility is owned and run by Enviro Applied Products (Pty) Ltd which has been supplying liquid fertiliser for 25 years.
The Ecovite range of products is supplied into the Southern African and offshore markets by EnviroBioAgri (Pty) Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Enviro Applied Products. Enviro Bio Agri specialises in the conversion of fermentation coproducts into high-value, functional animal feed ingredients and other products, primarily for use in the agricultural sector.

Technology
How it works
Spray drying involves atomising the liquid feedstock into droplets inside a large spray drying tower. The moisture is rapidly evaporated by hot air and a fine powder is produced. An automated feeder delivers wood chips into a specially-designed oven to heat the air. Temperature and pressure within the process are continuously monitored and meticulously controlled.
Quality control is of vital importance
The consistency of the liquid feedstock is key to producing high-quality products, and this is attained by the proximity to the distillery and the vertical integration of the plants. This also allows using a fixed formula to produce Ecovite products and contributes to reliable and homogenous output.
The various stages of the process are closely monitored by appropriate control systems to ensure Ecovite product quality and consistency.
Sustainability in all regards
The conversion of fermentation products into animal feed ingredients through spray drying eliminates potential waste.
Wood chips are used as a source of energy to evaporate the moisture in producing Ecovite products. Wood chips are a renewable source of biomass that can be produced sustainably, in an environmentally responsible manner, unlike coal, gas or oil, which are commonly used to produce heat.
